Beautiful race with a twist that will challenge you
The novelty of both racing the tide and a border crossing in once route drew me in and I found a pretty race through varied country that is harder than it looks on paper. Don't let the numbers fool you, those big ups in the middle take some getting over! The race team are all lovely, very helpful and greet you at every aid station with big smiles and good craic. If you are looking or feeling a bit wobbly, they will do everything in their power to get you back up and on the course (including holding your muddy feet up while you're taking a tactical lie-down and plying you with sweet hot tea). The aid stations are sensibly positioned with never too long a gap between them, although there are a couple that you wish were a mile closer! Aid stations are well provisioned with sweet offerings, often fruit, plenty of water and both regular cola and the medicinal delicacy that is 'Red Kola'. If you crave salty snacks while running, you will need to pop some in your drop bags, although there is more variety in food at Morebattle and Wooler (both drop bag stations and both indoors). It's very nice to have options for two drop bags plus a finish bag on a smaller event like this and it makes it very manageable to run this race as a solo effort although probably a tiny bit easier if you have a small crew with you, and again, definitely in the realms of possibility for newcomers to ultra-distance as long as you've done your training miles and some hill practice. All in all, I'd definitely recommend it as both a route and as a race.

Great event and marshalling. Really good atmosphere and will definitely return next year!

Friendly, well organised, fun.
Great organisation and friendly Marshalls. It feels like a local event as opposed to the ones organised corporate ones.

Make no mistake this is a tough day out and the tide has you chasing the cutoff; but brilliantly organised by Tim and the team. Huge thanks to all the volunteers including the return from Holy Island to Wooler.
Great Hostel for overnight accommodation and also acts as race headquarters and one of the checkpoints on the 100k and endpoint on the 45m. Unbelievable hospitality - everyone so friendly and supportive. Can only recommend

One big, glorious adventure!
Lovely, friendly people always make an event for me and this one was no exception. This is the first time I have done any sort of navigation in an event (and I can miss big, yellow arrows!) but I was reassured by the tracking system on this one to alert organisers if I started heading to Glasgow. The route was, as advertised, very well way-marked and the GPX was a big help too.
Well done for a fantastic event.

Warm and a welcome atmosphere
GPX was a little bit sketchy at the beginning and in places some more signage might help but overall a well organised event and the staff and volunteers were a credit to this event

Tough run but plenty of opportunities for fast running
Well supported at checkpoints

A challenging but rewarding event
This really is something special. A challenging event and the cuf-off for Holy Island is not as easy as it sounds. There are some steep ascents and descents and the going is difficult underfoot in places over the hills. There are a few long road sections, which l was not expecting. Saying all that, the scenery is stunning and the staff were really pleasant.
My only complaint is the choice of food at the intermediate checkpoints. There were virtually no savoury options, just sweet stuff. For longer races l prefer to avoid sugar rushes and take in proper food. The drink options were only water or fizzy coke. My stomach cannot take fizzy drinks and water from plastic cans l find rather distasteful. Some squash would have gone down much better.

Fantastic Day Out
A really well run, very friendly event. All the event volunteers were absolutely brilliant (thankyou!) and the aid stations were well-stocked with supplementary supplies. A real sense of adventure navigating the Way with lovely scenery on a challenging course. The hot shower at the hostel at the finish was also particularly appreciated!

Awesome course, well organised, friendly team who were very supportive, well done Tim and all the Trail Outlaws crew!
Maybe it would be useful to give a bit more information about finish options. I took the causeway, not really being clear on the pilgrims path, which I would have considered (still not sure I would have gone that way though given that half of it was underwater!)

Great multi-terrain event with sone stunning scenery
Only had one issue which was with the accuracy of the supplied GPX file which quite literally led us up someone's garden path at one point! It would benefit from updating.
